Proudly Serving Rhode Island

Rhode Island Government Software Since 1998

Deliver paperless government services a whole new way.

Did you know that if America woke up to no federal government, there would be absolute chaos in the financial markets.  U.S.  federal debt is the largest single investment instrument in the market, and the disappearance of a federal government would have everyone scrambling to figure out who, if anybody, would honor that debt.

Moreover, since each and every U.S.  dollar is essentially a debt instrument backed by the "full faith and credit of the U.S.  government", what would that be worth (and also, of the billions of dollars of reserves held around the world in U.S.  dollars) with no U.S.  government.

Rhode Island Flag

Some information I know about Rhode Island is I believe the state was admitted or ratified to the United States around or about 'May 29, 1790'.  Rhode Island is located around latitude '41.742325' and longitude of '-71.742332' and has a population of roughly '1,097,379 million'.  If I remember correctly the capital is 'Providence' and the largest city is 'Providence'.

Local city governments are just as important.  If their services were to be impacted it would be devastating to citizens and businesses.  With cyber attacks across power grids in 2022 it further hilights the need for energy, waste removal, payment systems and more.

Case Study

ScanOnline hired me to manage manufacturing and government software development for small clients to large clients like the FBI and Executive Offices of the Whitehouse.  NTI Solutions was a subsidiary of ScanOnline selling QuarterMaster software at the time for asset management.  Many federal agencies used Quartermaster to manage checkout of assets whereas the Whitehouse utilized it to manage furniture for events.

When the Parks and Recreation of the City of Greensboro needed a work order system, they came to me to develop it.  Once that system was developed, they came to me for a survey system for the city buses, then Housing Community and Development utilized his expertise to spec out a new system for them.  Whether city or federal government we can help.

"Thanks for all the good work!  The ESRI mapping component is working great!"

When the GTA (Greensboro Transit Authority) which also operates Access GSO, a door-to-door and curb-to-curb paratransit service for passengers with disabilities needed a questionnaire system for their patrons they asked me if I could help since I had previously assisted the Parks and Recreation department.  The resulting SCAT (Specialized Community Area Transportation) questionnaire system gave them a way to record questionnaires into a system for reporting and analysis.

"Eddie, the SCAT questionnaire system you created has really helped our department.  Thank you!"

What is Government Software?

Having the appropriate software in local and federal government to keep everything running is critical to governments success.  Part of that success is the GOSCON conferences which are assisting government with moving towards more Open Source initiatives where dependency on Microsoft, Oracle and other sales based companies currently drives budgets and dependability with upgrades.

If at any point you decide to reach to me just know the area code I work within for Rhode Island is '401'.  For Government assistance you will find my rates very reasonable for Rhode Island.  Now just keep in mind my time zone is 'Eastern Standard Time (EST)' and I know the time zones in Rhode Island are 'Eastern Standard Time (EST)' in case you wish to call me.  Anyway let me continue.

GOSCON (Government Open Source Conference) is a conference held annually to explore the use of open standard and open-source software in the public sector, mostly in the United states.  GOSCON was conceived of at Oregon State University's Open Source Lab, and first held in 2005.  From 2005 to 2008, GOSCON was held in Portland, Oregon.  In 2009, it was held in Washington, D.C.  at the Ronald Reagan Building.  In 2010 it was held in Portland, and in 2011 it will again be held in Washington, D.C.  Deborah Bryant is the founder and director of the conference.

Office of the Secretary of Defense

In GOSCON, academic and government IT managers from the local, state and national level discuss opportunities and challenges presented by the use of open-source software - some of which are specific to public sector situations (such as the government procurement process) and some of which are shared by many IT departments (such as questions about the ongoing support of Open Source Software projects).  Speakers have included open-source software project leaders such as Brian Behlendorf, Larry Augustin and Ward Cunningham; government and university IT managers; academic researchers and corporate executives.

You know, I don't make it out to Rhode Island much but I would like to see the 'Rhode Island Red' state bird.  I am a little familiar with the Rhode Island 'Violet' state flower as well.  However, I do not know much about Rhode Island's state tree the 'Red Maple'.  Fishing is fun to me perhaps I would like reeling in the Rhode Island 'Striped Bass (rockfish)' state fish.  Anyway, sorry I went off topic.  Let me continue.

What is Open Source for America?

Open Source for America consortium of various organizations established to advocate for and support the use of free and open-source software in the U.S.  Federal government.  It consists of various open source foundations, and companies, including GNOME, Mozilla, and Canonical.  The organization consists of various committees and working groups, one of which is Mil-OSS.

Need Assistance?

Ever have an idea about a product or service but lack the ability to develop that idea?  Are you looking for a reliable person/firm to build your software?  Perhaps you are in need of someone to manage projects and teams?
